What is the GAC?The Grand Army of the Cussewago is a non-profit, fraternal organization of men dedicated to perpetuating the study of the history of the American Civil War. Each year we research and study a particular battlefield, spend 2-3 days visiting the important points on that battlefield, and raise money for battlefield preservation. The Grand Army of the Cussewago was founded in 1997 as a successor organization to the Army of the Cussewago, a similar Civil War research and study group that had been in existence since 1954. In order to maintain the spirit of cameraderie that has sustained the Grand Army and Army of the Cussewago throughout our 60 plus-year history, new members are recruited by current members on an invitation-only basis. |
